PENNY DIVER

The Ma-ori village of Whakarewarewa in central Rotorua is built in a thermal area with many mud pools, geysers and hot springs. It has been one of New Zealand's main tourist attractions since the 19th century, and an important point of contact between Ma-ori and European. These children wait in a hot pool, ready to dive for pennies thrown by tourists.
