Color
Mainly semi-transparent in life with two narrow dark, coppery, stripes on upper half of body and relatively large, black spot at the base of the caudal fin.
Etymology
Ostorhinchus: from Greek, osteon = bone + from Greek, rhynchos = beak. In reference to the bony jaws, very much advanced and jagged, which take the place of the teeth.
franssedai: named for Fransiscus Xaverius Seda (Frans Seda) (October 4, 1926 - Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Dutch Indies / December 31, 2009 (aged 83) Jakarta, Indonesia). He was an Indonesian finance minister in the early days of Suharto's presidency. He also served as a minister during the final days of Indonesia's founding President Sukarno rule in 1966. He is one of the most well-known figures from the eastern province of Nusa Tenggara Timur.

Distribution
Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia east to Palau, north to Philippines, south to New Ireland (Papua New Guinea) and New Caledonia.
